Leadership
Ronald Walsworth, Ph.D.
Founder
Professor and Director of the Quantum Technology Center at the University of Maryland, and co-inventor of Diamond Quantum Sensing with 17 U.S. patents. A serial entrepreneur and quantum technology leader, he has founded five companies translating quantum science into real-world applications. With decades of leadership across academia, research, and commercialization, he bridges the gap between breakthrough discovery and transformative ventures.
Amanda Stein, Ph.D.
CEO
An expert in turning quantum research into market-ready ventures. With 20+ years of experience spanning academia, government, and non-profits, she held leadership roles at the University of Maryland's Quantum Technology Center and Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, with a PhD in Information Studies from the University of Maryland and an MPS in Management from The George Washington University.
NV Diamond Sensing: Unlocking the Invisible
Turning diamond defects into the world's most precise sensors.
Q-Cat stands at the forefront of NV (nitrogen-vacancy) sensing – a revolutionary quantum technology born from diamond's unique properties. By harnessing these atomic-scale imperfections, NV centers open a window into the invisible, allowing us to measure magnetic fields, temperature, and pressure with unmatched precision.
Led by the co-inventor of NV sensing, our team is advancing the field from fundamental research to real-world applications. From national security and healthcare to energy and advanced manufacturing, we turn breakthrough science into products that reshape industries.
